  My daughter works during the week but usually picks me up on the weekends to drive around VA since we moved here from NY and really enjoy the landscaping, beautiful trees, beautiful scenery all around. We live in Oldtown which I love. Since I am a history lover. However, we were out Easter eve and decided to go to this church for mass. My daughter had checked out the time. We walked in and as new people, and since we are Catholics from NY, not one person greeted us! At our church in NY there is ALWAYS someone at the door greeting everyone. Especially new people. Also once in side, there was a couple sitting in front of us. I noticed a woman seemingly with the church run up to the lady and and said something in her ear. The woman was turned sideways toward our direction. When she left, I noticed the woman in front of us, take a bag off the seat beside her and placed it on the floor between her and the man. Paid no attention to it at first. Choir was very good. However, my daughter from working all week and a busy day got very sleepy. We got up to leave. Noticed the woman behind us who was talking to the lady in front of us. She gave my daughter and I a very unpleasant look. Even the man who should have welcomed us gave us a funny look as we left. I assumed it was because we left a bit early. Didn't dawn on me til the next morning what was happening. We are Black and I can only assume the woman from the church was warning the lady in front of us to watch her bag! Well! what a dreadful church. No one welcomed us. We were only two Blacks in the church. So just put two and two together and realize hate and racism is everywhere!! Didn't mention this to my daughter. Not worth it.

  I think saying St. Luke's Catholic Parish tells so much more about what goes
  on behind the walls of this our Catholic Church.
