  • If you're actually interested in being Catholic this is an excellent parish. Priests care about the Church as well as the church militant. They believe in and deliver solid liturgy. They adhere to church teachings and give solid homilies about the true teachings of the faith. Time and effort is made into giving excellent homilies along with good classic liturgical music and tasteful aesthetics to remind you you're in church. They don't back down when it comes to the rules or standing up for the faith. They also even offer the traditional Latin mass according to 1962. And NO they DON'T allow alter girls because Girls DON'T have vocations to be PRIESTS. We have to remember this. There is no purpose for the girls to be there. Serving at the alter exposes our young boys to the priesthood so they can consider it as a vocation. Jesus had 12 Male apostles whom he asked to be Alter Christus. Not a mixture of male and female apostles. So for those who don't like true Catholicism, maybe another parish should be considered. There are many protestant churches in the area who are much less discriminating.

  • This is, as Jamie said, a great Catholic parish. They are interested in beautiful liturgy, as one of the greatest ways to give glory to God--after charity, of course. I would remind Rick that Our Lord praised the woman who so extravagantly annointed his feet. When it comes to giving to Our Lord in making the Mass and the church and the Liturgy beautiful, we are trying to do the same as that woman.
It is true that the Church should probably not flatly endorse any current political party, but many times standing up for life has, simply in the face of the facts, meant supporting certain candidates. If a certain party has chosen a pro-abortion platform, of course we will oppose and preach against them, because abortion is murder of the innocent!
As far as altar girls (spelling), restricting service at the altar to men, though not required by the Church, is actually recommended by Church documents (even after Vatican II) largely because it is a fact that as there have been more altar girls, there have been less vocations to the priesthood.
Thanks, Jamie, for the words on behalf of truth!

  • This Church and this Parish is the reason we are here. I wouldn't "trade" for the world. There is reverence, there is understanding, there is everything you need. I feel like i'm at a university gettign a degree ...and all is for free...Want to understand your faith better, come to SJTB in Mclean. Want to serve the Lord better by living a more virtuous life, well, this is the place to be as you will find many examples to learn from. Fr.Scalia, Fr. Macafee and Fr.Poumade are excellent priests and they know what they are doing. I wished I had discovered this parish before. I feel very much at home now and hope to be here until my Last Sacrament.

  • True Catholicism! Solid teachings and beautiful liturgy. Our favorite even though we aren't parishioners
